Withings → Garmin guide
How to sync a Withings scale with Garmin Connect
Withings and Garmin do not offer a direct connection that sends every scale metric to Garmin Connect. This guide explains the practical options, their limits and the BodyRelay flow.
Why is the sync not native?
Withings states that it has no direct Garmin connection and documents intermediary services such as MyFitnessPal, depending on the platform. Garmin confirms that MyFitnessPal can send weight to Garmin Connect. That route may be enough for weight, but it relies on three services and does not document a complete body-composition transfer.
BodyRelay has a narrower purpose: read the weigh-ins you authorise from Withings and send Garmin-compatible values, with a preview and duplicate protection.
Step 1 — Create and secure your space
Create your BodyRelay account from the sync landing page. You verify your email and separately accept the service terms and the processing required to transfer measurements. No provider account is linked without your action.
Step 2 — Link Withings, then Garmin
The Withings connection uses the provider’s authorisation flow: BodyRelay receives a token rather than your Withings password. The Garmin connection establishes a technical session; your Garmin password is not written to the BodyRelay database. Multi-factor authentication is supported when Garmin requests it.
BodyRelay is an independent third-party service. Reading Withings uses its official API. Writing to Garmin relies on an unofficial interface that may change or become temporarily unavailable.
Step 3 — Preview before sending
Choose a starting date. BodyRelay analyses available weigh-ins and separates compatible values from those Garmin cannot receive. The preview does not write anything to Garmin. You then confirm what should be transferred.
Each source measurement receives a technical fingerprint to prevent the same weigh-in from being sent twice. The history distinguishes successful, ignored and failed transfers.
Manual or automatic sync
Manual mode is free and unlimited: you start every search for new weigh-ins. Automatic mode, available from €2 per year, periodically finds and transfers new measurements in the background. You can pause automation without deleting your account.
What should you check after the first transfer?
- The date, time and weight in Garmin Connect.
- The body-composition values present on the Withings weigh-in.
- The absence of a duplicate entry in Garmin.
- The transfer state in BodyRelay history.
A measurement should only be treated as transferred after Garmin Connect confirms it. BodyRelay is a data-transfer tool, not a medical device.
